Growing guide

HEDYCHIUM—Ginger Lily

SITUATION: Suitable for sunny or semi-shaded positions and grows well in all climates. Well-rotted animal manure, blood and bone or similar should be worked through the soil thoroughly before planting, digging deeply to ensure good drainage.

TIME OF PLANTING: June to August. Plant just below the surface and space 45 cm apart.

GENERAL CARE: Water well during the growing season. Top dress with some fertiliser in late Spring. Cut off stems when they have finished flowering. Hedychiums are also excellent cut flowers.

DIGGING AND STORING: Clumps can be lifted and divided during the winter months. Store in a moist peat moss if unable to replant immediately. When left in, top dress with some well-rotted manure, blood and bone or similar during winter.
